Waterworks Holding Auditions for Yalta

Post on August 25, 2019 by Ed Kinman

The Crimea coast along the Black Sea will be the setting for Waterworks Players’ October production of Yalta. It’s February 1945, with the end of World War II in sight, the “Big Three” meet at the resort town of Yalta, engaging in a pollical chess match and a battle of wills as they redraw the balance of power and a new world order.

This new play by Hampden-Sydney professor Dirk Johnson has had two readings in New York and will be debuted in a full production at Waterworks. Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin are meeting for a “now what” discussion. It’s also the inception of the United Nations. This inside look at their suggestions, likes, and dislikes, makes for an intriguing personal look at what makes “famous men” tick.

Dudley Sauve will direct the production.

We are seeking 12 male and 3 female actors of various ages.

Auditions will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday and Monday, September 1 & 2 at the Waterworks Theater. There will be cold readings from the script. In addition, we need a number of stage hands to assist during technical week rehearsals and the four public performances.

The show runs October 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8pm. There is also a matinee on October 13 at 2pm.
