Waterworks Players announces upcoming auditions for Robin Hood, by Vicky Orman, with performances in the first half of December, to be directed by Don Blaheta. This show is a play in the British Panto style, a holiday tradition throughout the UK and since 2009 right here in Farmville. As a popular form of theater, panto combines song, dance, and slapstick comedy loosely based on traditional children’s stories. This year, Waterworks visits Sherwood Forest!
Auditions will be at 7pm on Sunday and Monday, October 20 and 21, at the Waterworks Theatre building (25 SMI Way, Farmville) and consist of cold readings from the script—come as you are, no preparation required! Performers should be comfortable performing for children, interacting with the audience, and singing (if you can sing in the shower, you can do this). Rehearsals will begin on October 27th.
The show runs on Friday evenings (December 6th & 13th) and Saturday afternoons and evenings (December 7th & 14th). For more information or to volunteer, contact the Waterworks Players at info@waterworksplayers.org.
The cast of around 20 includes a range of roles appropriate to both experienced actors and folks who have never been on stage before. Actors of any age, gender, and race/ethnicity are encouraged to audition. All roles are available at this time.
Robin Hood is presented by arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts.
