Waterworks Players will take Southside audiences to Monkswell Manor, a once-regal estate converted into a guesthouse for its August production of Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap. This legendary “whodunit” opened in London’s West End in 1952 and has been running continuously to this day. It has been presented in 27 different languages in more than 50 countries around the world.
Scott C Chapman will direct the production. The play centers on a group of people stranded during a snowstorm in a remote part of the countryside who discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed. This is a cracking yarn and an irresistible treat for amateur sleuths everywhere.
