The Waterworks Players will break summer doldrums with The Complete History of America (abridged), a comedy that portrays 600 years of history in 6,000 seconds. From Washington to Watergate, yea verily from the Bering Straits to Baghdad, from New World to New World Order – this production is a 90-minute rollercoaster ride through the glorious quagmire that is American History, reminding us that it’s not the length of your history that matters — it’s what you’ve done with it!
Auditions will be held at the Waterworks Theater on June 29th and 30th at 6:00 pm. We need a cast of three, can be all male, female, or some combination thereof. There will also be cold readings from the script. The show runs for 90 minutes without intermission. Production dates are July 30, 31 and August 6, 7.
Stephen Holden of the New York Times, said: “… The Complete History of America (abridged) interprets the past as a breathlessly paced sequence of silly vaudeville sketches, word-association games, puns and crude parodies of movie and television genres. Nothing is sacred, and many of the facts have been skewed to suggest the paranoid ravings of a particularly loony tabloid …”
If you have questions, contact us directly or post to the audition’s Event page on Facebook. If you want to audition but cannot make either scheduled audition, let us know and we’ll try to arrange another time.
